A Mexican civil engineer with a master‘s degree in engineering
I consider myself as Urban Mobility lover. I have to say, since I was a child I always watched and wanted to got a car, because I love cars. I played with cars and I was the designer of the road. I became an engineer because I wanted to build a bridge and see my name in a at the beginning of the bridge, haha. Well, one of my first jobs was to help on the construction of a building, which is located near my home. The building is part of the motorway / expressway that interconnect San Pedro Garza García municipality to the International Airport.
Sometimes I used to ride my bicycle from my home to Linda Vista neighborhood, around 4 km away. I decided to get a Volkswagen Sedan ("vochito" in Mexican spanish) as my first one in my life, haha sometimes I am so decided on doing something. I got my 1998 red vochifreddy, I loved it, but it is not the best option.
I participated on two Congresses, the first one, in 2019 (Congreso Nacional de Ciclismo Urbano) y en 2021 in the 21st CLATPU (Congreso Latinoamericano de Transporte Público y Urbano). I have worked as a Civil Engineer teacher in the UVM (Universidad del Valle de México). My experience in the public sector is also interesting, I have worked in San Pedro municipality bureau of Sustainable Urban Development, SINTRAM (Sistema Integral para el Tránsito Metropolitano) controlling traffic lights within the Monterrey Metropolitan Area (MMA) for almost four years and then, I changed on Apodaca municipality bureau of Ecology, Public building administration and Transit, yeah! I helped on planning cycle routes for Apodaca citizens and for everyone at the end, the MMA is dense enough for using bicycles, well we need more intermodality between public transportation and our more efficient way of move.
In 2022 I traveled motu proprio to Europe. The main reason was to takle the IELTS, so I studied for 6 months in LSC (London School of Commerce), but at the end of my course I didn't feel with the confidence to pass the exam, so I stayed six more months in the UK. I had five volunteering experiences between England and Scotland. I bought a foldable bike since the second month. I experienced the British public Transportation, sometimes by train, by Underground, ride in a car, two floor buses, bicycle or by foot. I loved to walk through pedestrian natural routes. Then, I flew back to Malta with the mission of tackling the exam, I took private lessons with my lovely South African teacher, Ms Lee, and in the final lessons my favorite Canadian teacher gave me the final lessons. On the final days of November, I took the speaking test, then the 2 of December I took the other parts.
I got back Monterrey on 8 December 2023, and since February 2024 I started to work for IECOS (Integration Engineering and Construction Systems) as a Engineer Manager, actually, some of my friends and new friends work for the same company.
.... This is a (very) briefly adventure of my life. Thanks for reading (:
